News You Can Use:
Update on the
lakes by Nick Thomas, Lake Control Chair.
The north lake was treated for algae on 09/22 or 09/23 but there is
still a problem. The algae is
throughout the lake, but we are only permitted to treat
the shoreline. Since we are unable to treat all
of it and algae reproduces rapidly when conditions are
"ideal", we are fighting an uphill battle.

LAKE LEANN LAKE STUDY
Now for a little about our lakes...
Lake LeAnn is a private lake community composed of two basins–
North and South – that offer over 9 miles of shoreline
and 460 water acres. The lake depth runs from 9 to 40 feet
with South Lake LeAnn several feet higher in elevation than
North Lake LeAnn. The two lakes are separated by a dam.
This man-made all-sport lake is situated on U. S. Highway
12 between Somerset Center and the village of Moscow, along
the route of the “Old Sauk Trail” which was traveled
by the early settlers moving west from Detroit to the area
of Chicago. Rich in history and widely known for its natural
beauty this territory was first known to the Indians and later
was traveled by LaSalle and the French fur traders.
Acquisition of the 1250 acres which encompasses the Lake
LeAnn development involved 14 farm properties. Brush and timber
clearing, excavation, construction of roads and dams were
started in July 1960. Completion was scheduled for September
1962. The Lake LeAnn community now boasts over 2000 lots within
15 subdivisions which are self governed through a property
owners association.
Featuring clear spring water, sandy beaches, and generously
sprinkled with hardwood and pine, Lake LeAnn truly offers
up a beautiful panorama.
